online work
Online work have exploded in use worldwide, now comprising hundreds of millions of users. Despite the tremendous social impact and business opportunities that the communities afford, surprisingly little information systems research has addressed them—especially in a cross-cultural context. Online work Our model is informed by social exchange theory and social penetration theory, along with cross-cultural theory related to individualism-collectivism. SET explains that people enter relationships when perceived relationship costs are less than the expected benefits. SPT extends SET to clarify that individuals do self-disclosure to establish relationships – reciprocation is the key compensation of self-disclosure, whereas risk is the core price of self-disclosure. Our research established a number of key findings At the same time, a tendency toward collectivism increases self-disclosure. We also found that the French participants rated higher on horizontal individualism than the British. Other findings and their practice implications are discussed. As in any social organization, people have to put effort into keeping their online groups healthy. That means electronic mailing list servers like LISTSERV Majordomo, and other such groups need people to keep the technology infrastructure going, perform social management tasks, and recruit new members. And, of course, people have to read and contribute to the discussion. In this paper, we ask how and why people do this.. Results from a survey of owners of Internet mailing lists, and other members of those lists, suggest that although owners, with their formal leadership role, do more of the effortful community-building work than regular members do, other members also take on some of the work. Moreover, members who value different benefits are likely to contribute to online community development in different ways.

Online work impacts
Advantages:
- Efficiency: Online learning serves as an efficient channel through which teachers can disseminate lessons to the students. Online learning has a few tools, including videos, PDFs, and podcasts, all of which a teacher can use as part of the lesson plan.
- Accessibility of time and place: Another advantage of e-learning is that students can attend classes from any part of the world. It also helps the schools to reach a bigger network of students, rather than enclosing their institution with a geographical boundary.
- Affordability: The other benefit of online learning is reducing financial costs. Online education, compared to physical learning, is way cheaper.
Disadvantages:
- Inability To Focus On Screens: One of the biggest challenges of online learning for many students is the fight of not focusing on the screen. In online learning, there is an increased likelihood of becoming easily distracted by social media or other websites.
- Technology Issues: Another important challenge in conducting online classes is internet connectivity. While internet penetration has increased manifold in the past couple of years, getting a consistent connection with decent speed remains a problem in smaller cities and towns.
why we work online
It may be that increased access to the Internet and interactive Web applications is one of the explanatory factors for this strong growth in the number of schools implementing Blended Learning. The process of implementing Blended Learning is complex because educators must determine the perfect blend of face-to-face activities and online learning activities when designing courses, early research does indicate students have positive feelings about participating in Blended Learning courses versus the traditional classroom. In the future, therefore, teachers and students have to collaborate and co-own in determining the best principles for an approach that redefines what it means to teach and to learn. Besides, schools have to continue implementing disruptive technologies or innovations that are affordable, which shall provide entertainment and effective instruction and personalize learning among all students.
